Klamath Falls Family, Page One

KlamathFallsFamily.jpg

Young mother, twenty five, says "Next year we'll be painted and have a lawn and flowers." Rural shacktown, near Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sept 1939. Photo by Dorothea Lange. (Source of caption: Library of Congress)

Dorothea Lange took hundreds of sad, lyrical photos such as this one. The most intriguing thing is the girl standing inside the door. She looks like she's fixing her hair, perhaps anticipating that she will wind up in the next photograph. I got the Klamath Falls Herald & News to run an article and publish the photo. No one recognized anyone in the picture. What happened to this family? We may never know.
